Bradford County demographics mirrors that of the state of Florida. With it's average age, household income and ethnic makeup. It’s the state’s 50th most populated county (out of 62) with a 2010 U.S. Census population of 28,520. Yet Bradford is close enough to Gainesville and exurban Jacksonville (Orange Park, Fleming Island, Green Cove Springs) to easily draw from a significantly expanded commuting radius.
The expanded commuting radius stems from the lack of congested roads. With less traffic in every direction, it’s easier and faster to travel larger distances in the same amount of time as a typical urban worker. Mileage is less important here than time spent commuting. Travel to and from work is pleasurable – Bradford County is one of the prettiest areas in Florida, filled with green space, lakes and rivers. The small town or “country” mindset is dominant in our workforce, where people value hard work, loyalty, tradition and family.
